If he was about to be charged you'd imagine they wouldn't have allowed him to be named in the squad.
Dilemma for Southgate in that Saka & Mount came on and turned the game after his nailed on selections of Foden & Sterling were hooked at 0-2.
To be honest nothing Southgate has done/learnt since the Euro final gives any clue as to what his team v Iran should be.
He has a lot of talented players available and England SHOULD be in the maybe 8 or so countries that COULD win the World Cup.
Think they and Belgium are possible winners handicapped by their managers.

No idea if it’s true but I’ve seen a message saying Toney is in trouble with the FA for betting offences. Might explain his lack of playing time.

he apparently used the comparison for maguire of the lead up to the euros when he was injured for a long time beforehand. basically saying, if he likes you it doesn't matter what you do or how you play for your club, you're never getting a chance. no wonder vardy fucked it off a few years back. hopefully we go out in the group stage, as that may be the only way we did ourselves of this clown

With the World Cup being our next game, I get the feeling that Southgate still hasn’t a clue who his best team is. Only started to play well when we were 2 down. Why would he play Maguire when it’s clear his confidence is shot to bits?
Good comeback, glad to see Sterling hooked, and maybe for the first time, saw what the big deal was about Mount.

Too late now, but this is one tournament too many for Waistcoat, it should have been freshened up after the Euro's. Now it's a mess and he has a massive decision to make on Maguire.
As for Kane, I do rate the bloke, but it's becoming pretty clear now that he cannot score against the big sides, which is obviously not what you want from your main striker.

toney not getting a minute in the two games was bizarre, especially after being involved in the press stuff leading up to the games. just like the jock twat, it's almost as if he's scared that giving someone else a chance would be a threat to his favourite son. was also weird listening to him talking after the Italy games about players needing to be playing regularly, yet maguire & shaw clearly don't have to meet these requirements

.. i just got back from the match - a lot of sloppy play from England, but the crowd liked the comeback ... Rice and Bellingham are our best two players by a long way ... Could do with going to a back four and having another midfielder in front of them

Pope looked awful tonight.
He looked terrified every time Germany had a shot or whenever he had the ball at his feet.
He didn’t have much to do against Italy the other night but even then there were a couple of occasions when he looked uncomfortable with a couple of back passes and clearances.
Played 5 at the back and still concede 3 at home. It’s obviously not working.
Bellingham was class.

Two lots of 90mins for Kane while Toney & Abraham sit and watch. Seems a bit pointless
Pope was always behind Pickford and now behind Ramsdale. Not sure the third keeper gets much World Cup game time.

Well that was entertaining shit... three shit bits of defending has cost us there... but... a much much improved performance... those krauts well be feeling a few bumps and lumps tonight... Bellingham absolute class in a glass and fair play saka Shit and Mount actually made a huge difference... so gareth got that bit right...

Makes Southgate look even worse really considering when they actually attacked and put a few challenges in they scored three goals! Saka looked a different player in his normal position.
